Mother Kelly To Entertain
Mother Kelly To Entertain at Willie's Saturday
Local
classic rock band, Mother Kelly, will take the stage at 10 p.m. on Saturday at
Willie's Lakeview Lounge, located on East Prospect Avenue.
The group has performed as the opening act for Southern rock band Molly Hatchet.
Mother Kelly has been receiving a lot of attention and praise for the two shows
they have played at the Poncan Theatre.
Last December Mother Kelly, along with Stiliwater's Rock 6 x and Ponca City's
own Prezence played a concert for Dave May and the Poncan Theatre that was well
received by the large crowd.
"Dave graciously agreed to have us back to open the show for Molly Hatchet and
we were thrilled to do it; since that show we continue to have people
approaching us in restaurants and on the street telling us how much they enjoyed
the show and the music we play. We seem to be gathering a loyal fan base of all
ages rather quickly and that's totally cool with us. We really appreciate all
your support and we thank Dave May and the Poncan Theatre staff for allowing us
to present our premiere shows from such a fantastic venue," says lead singer
Tommy Jenkins.
Mother Kelly consists of Fred Meek on lead guitar and vocals, Mark Swenson on
drums and vocals, Tommy Jenkins on lead vocals, guitar and harmonica and Gene
Richardson on bass guitar and vocals.
Collectively, the members of Mother Kelly have years of playing experience in
the Kansas-Oklahoma-Texas music scene.
Some of Mother Kelly's musical influences range from the Beatles, the Who and
the Rolling Stones to Led Zeppelin,Jimi Hendrix, Ted Nugent, Deep Purple,
Ritchie Blackmore, James Gang, Cheap Trick, Alice Cooper, Ozzy, My Chemical
Romance, Three Days Grace and Buckcherry to name a few.
