Mother Kelly Band Returns

Mother Kelly Band Returns To Willie's Lakeview
Lounge
Local classic rock band, Mother Kelly, returns to
Willie's Lakeview Lounge, Saturday from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. The Mothers are
anxious to return to Willies after a standing room only show in June.
"We want to thank all the people who came out in June to party with us and we
hope you return this Saturday night and bring your friends," says lead singer
Tommy Jenkins. To quote lead guitarist Fred Meek "it's gonna be a party!"
Mother Kelly, formed in the summer of 2007 from seasoned musicians, consist of
Mark Swenson, drums and vocals; Gene Richardson, bass guitar and vocals; Fred
Meek, guitar and vocals; and Tommy Jenkins, lead vocals, guitar, and harmonica.
The members of Mother Kelly have years of playing experience in the
Kansas–Oklahoma–Texas music scene.
"We've all been rocking since junior high school and feel all these years of
playing experience, combined with a mix of some of the best rock musicians in
rock n roll, and the best soundmen in the industry make Mother Kelly a fun band
to listen to and party with," says Jenkins.
Meek grew up in the Arkansas City-Wichita, Kan., area and has played with
several bands, most notably "Sass," a power trio in the Oklahoma-Kansas area.
Richardson is from the Kansas area and spent many years playing with Amplified
Heat, and Ash, before venturing off to the Dallas, Texas, and Colorado music
scenes.
Swenson and Jenkins have played since high school in numerous bands on the local
scene including Sunshine, Chilly Willy, Crash, Powerhouse, and Ezra.
All four members of Mother Kelly took some time off from music in the late 80s
to mid 90s to raise families and concentrate on professional/business careers.
They have formed Mother Kelly with a new found enthusiasm, focusing on
re-creating vocal and musical stylings of the artists whose music they perform.
Their musical influences range from the Beatles, The Who and Led Zeppelin to
Alice Cooper, James Gang, Cheap Trick, Alice in Chains, Buckcherry, and Three
Days Grace.
The Mothers have been gaining a loyal fan base on the Ponca City music scene and
as an opening act for rock legend "Molly Hatchett."
